5-Day, 4-Night Hiking & Wine-Tasting Tour Easy hiking, an affordable tour, and some of the world’s finest Pinot Noir await you along the picturesque backroads of the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail.
The Santa Maria Valley is nestled in the foothills of the northern Santa Barbara County wine country. On your 5-day, 4-night tour in the heart of California’s southern Central Coast, you will discover beautiful scenery, bird watching, succulent locally-grown fruits and vegetables, missions, awesome hiking, and award winning wineries located along the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail.
This tour includes two comparative blind wine tastings, visits to local Santa Maria & Edna Valley wineries, plus great hiking as well as all meals, local lodging, transportation & fees, and room tax.
Sunday Meet your California Wine Hikes tour guide mid-afternoon at your hotel, where you’ll enjoy a buffet reception and your first tasting, a blind tasting of six locally-produced Pinot Noir wines.
Monday Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, grab a lunch and water, then board the van for a 3-mile wildflower and waterfall hike in the Santa Lucia Wilderness. You’ll journey back through the Edna Valley grape-growing appellation, stopping at one or two wineries along the way to sample their delicious wares. After your return to the hotel to tidy up, you’ll enjoy dinner and wine at a popular local restaurant.
Tuesday Today’s adventure will take us south to Santa Barbara, where you’ll tour the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens, which offers 5 miles of hiking trails and a luscious variety of native plant life. After lunch, you’ll journey north along the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail, stopping a few times to sip some local wines, followed by dinner and local nightlife.
Wednesday After breakfast, you’ll once again grab your lunch and head out for a 7-mile hike — one that’s a little longer, but nearly as easy as Monday’s. You’ll see views of the Santa Lucia Wilderness, the Pacific Ocean, and Pismo Dunes. You’ll visit another winery or two along the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail, then return to the hotel for dinner and your second comparative blind tasting.
Thursday You’ll have a leisurely breakfast, then an optional short walk around town. At noon, you’ll raise a glass to each other and say your farewells.
