tour description

One-Day Hike & Wine-Tasting Tour: 5.3 easy miles, 500’ elevation gain
There’s a 5,000-acre classic oak woodland bordering Sonoma’s Valley of the Moon. It is vast and largely undeveloped, a place that can make you feel as if you’re walking in the backcountry.

Deer and coyote roam among the chaparral, and red-shouldered hawks cruise over slopes dotted with manzanita, bay, madrone, and live oak. Waterbirds congregate at a local lake and marsh. In spring, a thousand creeks race downhill between volcanic boulders and outcroppings of serpentine. In summer, warm hillsides turn to straw.

For wildflower lovers, this Sonoma County backcountry offers a great variety of flowers from early Spring until early Summer. The best months to see these wildflowers can be April and May, but there are plants in bloom as early as January and as late as September.

The hike
You’ll stroll along a classic loop that comprises much of the area’s best features, including forested canyons, abundant wildlife, and uncompromising views. You’ll want to have your camera handy!

The wine tasting
Next, you’ll toast your day when you sample fine wines and enjoy a gourmet picnic among lush lavender gardens at a well-known winery located in Sonoma County’s Valley of the Moon.

The fun
The small size of your group will lend itself well to a well-rounded, quality experience perfect for learning, having fun, and making new friends. You can even learn about the wildlife and flora that you see on the trail, or broaden your wine knowledge. Take advantage of your guide’s many years of wine and trail experience! All you need is a desire to know more. And to have fun!
