Randy, I'm glad you enjoyed this story. I found the cougar photo by online search but no attribute info was available to me, so let's assume it's under a Creative Commons License. Just click the photo to expand it to its full size, right-click, then select Save Target As..., and you'll have yourself a photo. If you should use it in publication, I won't mind too much if you attribute Winehiker Witiculture as your source. Thanks for asking!

This story was a fun one to write, Jefe. In fact, being such a strong memory, the story wrote itself!

hi Russ - it's posts like this that keep us all coming back!

I've only seen one cougar, in a situation that was so incongruous, on the grounds of another winery up here in Calaveras County. It was 10 in the morning and I was just hanging out waiting for a meeting - "wow, that dog sure is big, and it sure is walking funny..."

Another time in the trees behind one of our vineyards. A deer runs into the trees, a great rustling of leaves, a snarling sound, then silence....

I'm glad you and Phil were big...;-)
