I’ve been lately in the mode of offering “Top 100″ lists about wine, so I felt compelled to list one hundred things about myself.

I like “What Tree Is It?” though it is pretty Ohiocentric. No California Blue Oaks!

Funny, you’d think that the Blue Oak would show up in at least one online tree finder. I’ve just experimented with two that I know of and a third that I just discovered, all to no avail; they typically result in some type of red oak without delving further into subclassification. But here’s a little write-up on our backstage-and-out-of-the-limelight tree: Quercus douglasii.

Wow! thank you so much for that link!!! Our Twisted Oak (yes, it’s a real tree: http://www.twistedoak.com/tree.html) has been identified as a Blue Oak, and I have just learned about 10 times more than I did know about it. Heck, I didn’t even know the Latin… The info about the weeds under the canopy may be worth its weight in Tempranillo to us…!
I just did a google on the Latin and this popped up second, lots of cool data:

That’s awesome, Jeff — I feel your excitement! Kind of like a virtual tree hugging going on here…. Glad I could help.
Happy happy Thanksgiving, and may your turkey not taste like rubber….
