Do you parents let your small children, say 4, 5, 6, 7-years old taste wine? Is it a proper, even healthy, thing to do? If you do, is there a fear in the back of your mind that the agents of the state will break down your door and make an example of you?

I feel the most complex thing we do is smell, or at least one complex sense, if kids are given the opportunity to smell and taste wine early they will develop this sense much more quickly and be better for intellectually. I am not saying get them drunk this is of course irresponsible however a small taste diluted with water is very evocative for their capacity to smell. It also gives them a chance to realize that wine is not for getting drunk but for enjoying in moderation. I started drinking wine at 5 and it taught a lot at an early age, about wine and about drinking and about people.
