S.F. Bay Area restaurants receive James Beard nominations

A handful of restaurants in and around San Francisco have this Spring received the food and wine industry’s most coveted awards nominations: the James Beard Foundation Awards. The following list is a samping of award nominees in several categories, including a whopping three nominees in the Best Chef, Pacific category.

  • Rising Star Chef of the Year: Nate Appleman of A16, serving Italian fare in San Francisco’s Marina/Presidio districts
  • Outstanding Restaurant: Boulevard, serving American fare in San Francisco’s Financial/Embarcadero districts
  • Best Chef: Douglas Keane of Healdsburg’s Cyrus, serving contemporary American fare
  • Best Chef: Traci des Jardins of Jardiniere, which serves French fare in San Francisco’s Civic Center district
  • Best Chef: Rolan Passot of La Folie, serving French fare in San Francisco’s Russian Hill district
  • Outstanding Restaurateur: Thomas Keller of Yountville’s The French Laundry, serving mostly American fare

If you’re hungry for world-class cuisine - and what winehiker isn’t? - you can actually book a table at all of these fine dining establishments on OpenTable.com.* OpenTable.com offers online table reservations and concise venue descriptions for thousands of U.S. and international restaurants, plus you can chalk up points redeemable toward free meals - a Winehiker Favorite Feature. *That is, if you have the time and patience - a table at the French Laundry, for example, is not available more than 60 days ahead of your reservation date and is often snapped up as soon as it that 60-day window opens.
