That’s right! During the month of July, I hereby declare that I’m giving away a bottle of Dominus Estate, a regularly sought-after Bordeaux-style blend from Napa Valley, California. There are three ways to win this bottle. Ideally, you could win six bottles!

It’s not every day that you get to try a highly-acclaimed Napa Valley Bordeaux-style blend that fetches $100 retail. But that’s just what I’m giving away. Will you be the lucky person who wins it? If you read this post in its entirety and you choose to enter, then your chances are good.

First, let’s talk about the wine.
The Dominus Estate 2004 from California’s Napa Valley appellation is a red blend comprised of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot. (No Merlot!) The wine is deep red in color with an intense nose of vanilla, black currants, and cedar. You’ll notice an elegant integration of tannins and fruit, plus you’ll find flavors of warm mulled spices on the mid-palate that complement its balanced and complex structure. The long, aromatic finish exhibits notes of leather and cardamom.

The wine is charming, fragrant, and should age gracefully. Because this vintage is fairly young, however, and assuming you open it while young, I recommend you decant it prior to pouring so that it may develop its full potential.

If you find value in wine ratings, then you’ll be pleased to know that the 2004 Dominus Estate red blend is rated 94 points by Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate and 91 points by Steven Tanzer of the International Wine Cellar.
