Winehiker Witiculture

Wow! We have a winner in our Review My Site contest.

Uncork the possibilities! Write a review of californiawinehikes.com.

Back on May 1st, I offered a contest on this blog. It was a six-month contest in which readers, if they chose to review the California Wine Hikes website, could win a case of wine valued at $500.

The contest is now over and, having finally culled through the entries I received, I am ready to announce a winner!

And the winner is…

…Brian Olson!

Brian hails from Texas where he proclaims himself a Level 4 Redneck. Perhaps that’s news to some, but what’s really newsworthy is that Texas boasts a growing community of wine consumers as well as a growing supply of quality wines being produced in the state. In my opinion Brian, who is the author of the Redneck Wine Review blog, could position himself well at being the citizen voice behind Texas wine. After all, he’s one of a very few bloggers covering the wines of Texas. And, he knows how to write a review. When he darn-well chooses.

Well, I’m going to darn-well send Brian a case of wine.

I’m also rewarding the second-place finisher, Megan of Virginia. Megan goes by Sonadora on the blog she authors, Wannabe Wino, which offers fresh and delightful insight into the wines she tastes and tells us about. And now she’ll receive a bottle of wine from The Winehiker valued @ forty bucks.

Here, now, are the reviews of my website written by Redneck and Sonadora. A tip of the Winehiker’s old Aussie hat to you both for uncorking the possibilities, and for letting your hearts - and the desire for a delicious glassful - guide your keyboards!

    Russ,

Thank you very much for selecting me as the winner. I’m very happy to have found your site and when we come to town in September we’ll be seeing you for a wine hike! I really like your model and can’t wait to enjoy a wine hike myself! Thanks again!

[...] A couple of Mondays ago I awarded prizes to the authors of the best reviews of my tour and travel website, californiawinehikes.com, which this blog supports. My grand prize winner, Brian Olson, yesterday received the case of wine I shipped to him, and he appears to be pretty excited. Why? Because he has published a list of all twelve wines I sent him on his wine.com community page for all to see. [...]
